Curriculum

The core curriculum for all Form 1 and 2 students at Starehe Boys’ Centre comprises:

• English
• Kiswahili
• Mathematics
• Biology
• Chemistry
• Physics
• Geography
• History
• Christian OR Islamic religious education
• Computer studies
• Physical Education

Additional Subjects

Two other subjects are chosen from:

• Agriculture
• French
• German
• Music
• Business studies

Choices for Seniors

Forms 3 and 4 study eight subjects for the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) exam. Compulsory subjects are:

• English
• Kiswahili
• Mathematics

Students then choose one of two core options:

Triple Science Students

• Study the three core subjects
• + all three sciences
• + one of the arts/humanities

Double Science Students

• Study the three core subjects
• + two sciences
• + two of the arts/humanities

The eighth subject is chosen from among the following:

• Agriculture
• French
• German
• Music
• Computer studies
• Business studies

Accountancy and ICT courses are also offered at the Boys’ Centre’s own post-secondary Institute.
